Have you ever had a big dream?Laurie Bagley has, and she fulfilled it when she reached the summit of Mount Everest via the North Col route in Tibet on May 25, 2006, becoming the sixth U.S. woman to summit via the North Col route and the 26th woman to make the summit (counting all routes). This accomplishment crowns a long list of achievements built on outdoor experiences that include challenge, risk, suffering and, ultimately, courage and perseverance. Now that Laurie has returned to her home at the foot of California's second tallest mountain, she has begun the work of exploring the depth of experiences and meaning found in reaching the world's highest summit. Laurie embarked on this climb, and its requisite training, as a means of using her skills to garner attention and support for relief work in India. Her efforts reach out to the "untouchable" children of Bihan, India. Throughout Laurie's two year training program, which included climbing Alaska's Mount McKinley, Laurie named her effort "Climb for the Children." Proceeds from her fundraising have helped bring health care and education to the children of India's lowest, most poverty stricken class. Her desire now is to speak to groups about the motivation, dedication and lessons learned from choosing and attaining such a difficult goal. Through her Everest presentation "Journey of Hope, One Step at a Time" she will transform the tools and attitudes that helped her succeed into guidance that can benefit people in their career and personal life plans. Laurie has developed a variety of programs suited for specific audiences that have specific goals, from corporations, small businesses, non-profit organizations and administrators to middle school and high school students. Laurie also offers fitness coaching to individuals, whether you are preparing to climb a mountain, run a marathon or compete in a triathlon, or are simply looking for help making fitness a regular component of your life. As a mother, business owner and lifelong competitor, Laurie has developed a number of strategies and tools for incorporating consistent training into a busy lifestyle. In addition, she will help you break through the emotional, mental and psychological barriers that may be hold you back. "Accomplishing a big goal is all about breaking it down into small, one-step-at-a-time pieces. This will take you to your highest potential." Laurie Bagley |
